Heat's Josh Richardson: Limited to three summer league games

Richardson participated in only three games at the Orlando Summer League and didn't play for the Heat's entry in the Las Vegas Summer League. He averaged 16.7 points (on 47.2% shooting from the field), 4.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game in Orlando.

Analysis:

Richardson established himself as a legitimate NBA-caliber player during his rookie season, so it was no surprise to see the Heat limit his reps in summer league. The Tennessee product looks to be in position for an increased role next season following the departure of Dwyane Wade, but he may still be forced to come off the bench after the Heat were able to retain Tyler Johnson and bring aboard Dion Waiters and Wayne Ellington in free agency. The logjam at shooting guard may force coach Erik Spoelstra to get creative with Richardson, whose cause for playing time is enhanced by his ability to play point guard or small forward.
