Heat's Rodney McGruder: Starts eight summer league games

McGruder started all eight games that he appeared in for the Heat's entries at the Orlando and Las Vegas Summer Leagues, averaging 11.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists across 24.1 minutes per game.

Analysis:

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard got his points in an efficient manner, shooting 49.5 percent from the floor and 49.4 percent from three-point range. His outside shooting ability and defensive tenacity are what particularly piqued the Heat's interest, so much so that the team inked McGruder to a three-year, partially guaranteed deal on July 7. The expectation is that McGruder will be on the roster next season, though he'll still have to earn his way onto the team with a strong showing in training camp.
