Rockets' K.J. McDaniels: Leads Houston in scoring throughout summer league

McDaniels averaged 16.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks across 29.4 minutes per game in five Las Vegas Summer League contests.

Analysis:

While McDaniels only shot 39.3 percent from the floor, he was still able to finish as the Rockets' leading scorer during summer play. After appearing in 62 games as a rookie with the 76ers and Rockets, McDaniels saw action in only 37 contests in 2016-17. The Rockets still have plenty of depth on the wing that could inhibit McDaniels from seeing consistent action, but the athletic wing may offer the kind of skill set that new Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni is seeking. McDaniels' role should be better clarified during training camp.
