Klay OK with reduced touches, cites Ginobili's role

Klay Thompson understands that the arrival of Kevin Durant with the Golden State Warriors will affect how many times he touches the rock in any given game.

"Yeah, there's only one ball," he said Wednesday. "And guess what, we're gonna put it through the hoop."

Beyond that however, Thompson sounds prepared to sacrifice, much in the way players like Kevin Love and Chris Bosh have done with their respective teams over the past half decade. With Durant up front, Draymond Green as a jack of all trades, and Stephen Curry manning the point, Thompson may never touch the ball in non-catch-and-shoot situations again.

And he's taking his inspiration from a familiar, unselfish place.

"I look at a guy like Manu Ginobili who came off the bench almost his entire career," Thompson told ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss. "Never averaged more than 20 points a game, but he's a four-time champion, you know? He could have easily been on another team and averaged 25 a game, but he sacrificed to win, and that's what I expect to do next year. I don't care about averaging 25 or even 20. I just want to finish it out and get back to the Finals and enjoy that ride."
