Report: Spurs to hire Pistons exec Brian Wright as assistant GM

Bob Donnan / USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly bolstering their front office, at the expense of the Detroit Pistons.

The Spurs are hiring Pistons assistant general manager Brian Wright to serve in the same role under R.C. Buford, sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Before joining Stan Van Gundy's crew in Detroit, Wright spent eight years as a scouting manager for the Orlando Magic.

He's the second high-ranking executive to get filched from the Pistons' front office this offseason, after Ken Catanella was hired away by the Sacramento Kings.

The Spurs, though, had their own void to fill after losing assistant GMs Sean Marks and Scott Layden to GM jobs with the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves, respectively.
