Swingman Maurice Harkless continues to play the waiting game as a restricted free agent.

His agent, Happy Walters, told CSNNW.com's Jason Quick that his client and the Portland Trail Blazers are "not any closer" to coming to terms on a new contract.

Portland recently extended a $4-million qualifying offer to the 23-year-old St. John's alumnus, making him a restricted free agent. This allows the franchise to match any potential bids which come his way within three days, although no other team has yet to sign Harkless to an offer sheet.

Walters said his client is in no rush to make a decision, while also adding that Harkless is intent on re-signing with Portland.

There's a chance Harkless will ultimately take the qualifying offer, thus allowing him to hit unrestricted free agency following the 2016-17 campaign. He made a little under $2.9 million last season with the 44-38 Trail Blazers.

In 78 appearances, including 14 starts, Harkless averaged 6.4 points on 47.4 percent shooting, along with 3.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists.

The signing of Evan Turner to a four-year, $70-million contract may make Harkless expendable, as Portland already has C.J. McCollum, Allen Crabbe, and Al-Farouq Aminu capable of manning the wing spots.
