Kings' Skal Labissiere: Signs rookie contract

Labissiere signed a rookie contract with the Kings on Friday.

Analysis:

The Kings used their third and final first-round pick on Labissiere, who declared for the NBA despite submitting a rather disappointing freshman season at Kentucky. It's expected that his skills as a rim protector and jump shooter will fit in better at the pro level, but he might end up spending most of his rookie campaign adding strength to his rail-thin seven-foot, 216-pound frame rather than making many on-court contributions. The big man averaged 11.0 points (on 45.8% shooting from the field), 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 block across 24.2 minutes during five appearances in the Las Vegas Summer League.
