Kings' Malachi Richardson: Signs rookie contract

Richardson signed a rookie contract with the Kings on Friday.

Analysis:

Richardson, the second of the Kings' three first-round picks in the 2016 NBA Draft, is viewed as a developmental option in the backcourt and isn't expected to see much time as a rookie behind Arron Afflalo, Ben McLemore and Garrett Temple. The 20-year-old had an uneven showing for the Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 8.8 points (on 36.1% shooting from the field), 3.8 rebounds, 1.0 three-pointer and 0.8 steals in 23.6 minutes per game over five appearances.
