Thunder's Anthony Morrow: Contract guaranteed for 2016-17 season

The Thunder have guaranteed Morrow's $3.48 million contract for the 2016-17 season, Erik Horne of The Oklahoman reports.

Analysis:

In order to avoid Morrow's contract becoming guaranteed for the upcoming season, the Thunder would have had to waive him before July 15, but the offseason departures of Kevin Durant and Randy Foye prompted the team to hang on to the veteran. Morrow's meager salary isn't a bitter pill for the Thunder to swallow with the cap rising this summer, and the 30-year-old still brings value as a three-point shooter off the bench. Morrow tied Durant for the team lead last season with a 38.7 percent shooting mark from downtown, and is a 42.5 percent three-point shooter over his 10-year NBA career.
