Bucks' Thon Maker: Has up-and-down summer league

Maker closed summer league with averages of 14.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.0 block per game in five contests.

Analysis:

While the Bucks bowed out in the first round of tournament play, Maker turned in a generally strong performance, helping to quell some beliefs that he wasn't anywhere near ready for the NBA. Of course, the rookie still has a long way to go, but he held his own defensively and used his athleticism and length to control the glass on both ends. Maker struggled with his shot, going 37.7 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from downtown -- but he knocked down six total treys, showcasing the inside-out game that intrigued Milwaukee at No. 10. It remains to be seen where Maker will fit in with the Bucks, but GM John Hammond has already stated that he envisions Maker being a rotational player as a rookie.
