Magic's Jodie Meeks: Out indefinitely following surgery

Meeks underwent surgery Tuesday to "further stabilize the fifth metatarsal in his right foot" and is listed as out indefinitely, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

Meeks initially fractured the foot back in October, which limited him to just three regular season games for the Pistons last season before he returned to action in April. Despite his relative inactivity since that time, Meeks has experienced complications since the initial surgery, and a second procedure was deemed necessary. The Magic, who acquired Meeks in June, haven't offered anything in the way of a timeline, stating only that Meeks' return will "depend on how he responds to rehabilitation." If his recovery timetable from the previous surgery offers any indication, Meeks could be in line to miss 12-to-16 weeks due to the injury, which means he'll likely be sidelined for at least the start of the regular season. Meeks' absence would open up further minutes off the bench for Mario Hezonja and perhaps C.J. Wilcox.
