Raptors' Patrick Patterson: Will come off the bench behind Sullinger

Patterson is expected to come off the bench in 2016-17 with offseason addition Jared Sullinger likely to start at power forward, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports.

Analysis:

Patterson came off the bench for all 79 of the regular season games he appeared in during the 2015-16 campaign, so second-unit duties won't be anything new to him. While last season's primary starter at power forward, Luis Scola, has since headed to the Nets, Sullinger was signed to take Scola's place, though that won't necessarily result in a minimized role for Patterson. Even while coming off the bench last season, Patterson still saw more run than Scola, averaging 25.6 minutes per game while contributing 6.9 points, 4.3 boards, 1.3 three-pointers and 1.2 assists per contest. Look for Patterson to roughly split the court time with Sullinger or perhaps surpass him if Sullinger's conditioning proves problematic.
