76ers' Joel Embiid: Feeling good as workouts continue

Embiid (foot) continues to progress as expected and remains focused on getting back in playing shape for the start of training camp, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "We know [Embiid's] healthy," said Sixers assistant Lloyd Pierce. "He's been in a great spot the past couple of months...he's just trying to get in basketball conditioning, [work on his] basketball skills and feel comfortable on the floor."

Analysis:

Though the 7-foot-2 center was cleared for five-on-five scrimmaging in late June, the Sixers declined to let him play in the Las Vegas Summer League so as not to risk another setback with his right foot, which has cost him the last two seasons due to fractures that required surgery. He's set to make his debut in 2016-17 if his health prevails in training camp, but in addition to facing ample competition in the frontcourt from the likes of Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Jerami Grant and Dario Saric, Embiid will also likely have significant minute restrictions.
