Trail Blazers' Shabazz Napier: Out for rest of summer league with sprained shoulder

Napier sprained his left shoulder in Tuesday's 92-89 win over the Jazz and will miss the rest of the Las Vegas Summer League, Mike Richman of The Oregonian reports.

Analysis:

After acquiring Napier on July 5, the Trail Blazers wanted him to pick up plenty of run in the summer league so that he could distinguish himself as the team's top reserve point guard, but that never came to fruition. After sitting out the Blazers' summer league opener, Napier made his debut Sunday against the Spurs, but exited early after suffering a scalp laceration. He was deemed good to go in advance of Tuesday's contest, but was only on the court for 15 minutes before suffering a more serious injury. Napier is expected to be ready to go for training camp, where he may need to make more of a splash than originally thought if he hopes to maintain a roster spot.
