Pistons' Michael Gbinije: Agrees to three-year deal with Pistons

Gbinije signed Thursday with the Pistons on a three-year rookie contract, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Despite coming off a senior season at Syracuse where he averaged 17.5 points per game and shot 40 percent from behind the arc, Gbinije will still have to fight for his roster spot with the Pistons after falling to 49th overall in the June draft. In addition to his low standing on the depth chart, Gbinije will have to overcome a sprained ankle that forced him out of the Orlando Summer League. According to Pistons.com's Keith Langlois, Gbinije could be fully healthy within a few days, as the 6-foot-7 wing has already completed most of his rehab and is expected to be cleared Sunday to join the Nigerian national team in Las Vegas as they prepare for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
