Howard pokes fun at himself during tearful Hawks introduction

Dwight Howard was formally introduced as a member of the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, and followed an emotional display from new teammate Kent Bazemore with one of his own. The three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year teared up while talking about the opportunity to play in front of family and friends in Atlanta.

"Oh man, there's gonna be some memes," he joked (2:27 mark).

In a more serious moment, Howard offered deeper insight into his decision to play in Atlanta.

"As a great man told me, if you want to get back to the top, you gotta go back to your roots," he said, to loud applause.
