Pelicans' Toney Douglas: Waived by Pelicans

Douglas is waived by the Pelicans, Justin Verrier of ESPN reports.

Analysis:

The point guard averaged 8.7 points and 2.6 assists per game with 14.7 minutes over the duration of New Orleans' 2015-16 campaign. Douglas also tallied impressive numbers toward the end of his 2015-16 season, registering 15.3 points and 4.7 rebounds with an average of 30 minutes or more played in five straight games in April when half of the Pelicans' roster had been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Seeing that Douglas is fifth in the Pelicans' depth chart behind Jrue Holiday, E'Twaun Moore, Langston Galloway and Tyreke Evans, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that he's been waived.
