Jeremy Lin won't try to replicate Linsanity with Nets

In his lone season with the New York Knicks in 2011-12, Jeremy Lin got his big break in the NBA during a dazzling run known as Linsanity.

That string of performances - highlighted by a 38-point game against Kobe Bryant's Lakers at MSG and a game-winning 3-pointer in Toronto - netted him a big payday in Houston. Lin went from earning under $800,000 in New York, to over $8.3 million per year with the Rockets.

However, he couldn't replicate the success that captured the attention of fans all over the world. He lasted just two seasons in Clutch City before bouncing to the Lakers, Hornets, and now, the Nets.

Although Lin's returning to the Big Apple, don't expect a return of Linsanity.

"I'm so far past that," he said Saturday, as transcribed by NetsDaily.com. "From the outside, really during the season, I don't read anything, tweets or comments or articles or what this commentator said. So expectations are going to be the same for me.

"And I'm going to go in and keep my mind right ... play for God and I think the last couple of years, I've been able to live with the results. I played, I think, the right way and that's the way I want to play in Brooklyn."

The rebuilding Nets, who signed the 27-year-old to a three-year, $36-million deal this offseason, hope he'll serve as a solid starter.

Lin averaged 11.7 points, 3.2 boards, and three dimes in 26.3 minutes per game - mostly off the bench - for Charlotte this past season.
