The Miami Heat matched Tyler Johnson's reported offer from the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, retaining the 24-year-old guard.

Terms of the deal weren't released by the club, but the Nets' offer sheet was reportedly a back-loaded four-year, $50-million contract, with the last two years worth more than $18 million and $19 million respectively.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical was first to report the Heat matched the contract.

Johnson saw an increased role within the Heat's scheme during his second season, averaging 8.7 points, 2.2 assists, and three rebounds per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range.

"We are extremely happy to re-sign Tyler," Heat president Pat Riley said in a statement. "He, Hassan (Whiteside), Justise (Winslow), and Josh (Richardson) have grown together as an exciting, athletic, highly skilled young core over the last couple of years. They are going to have a tremendous opportunity this season and we are looking forward to watching them play together on the floor."

Going undrafted out of Fresno State in 2014, Johnson featured in the D-League before the Heat eventually signed him to a two-year contract in January 2015.

After Dwyane Wade signed with the Chicago Bulls this summer, Johnson will likely battle Richardson for a spot in Miami's starting lineup.
