Los Angeles Lakers power forward Julius Randle may be working a bit too hard during the offseason.

Randle, the seventh overall pick in 2014, sustained a laceration in the webbing between his middle and ring fingers in his right, non-shooting hand while practicing, the team announced Tuesday.

He needed seven stitches to close the wound and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Having missed his entire rookie season after a devastating leg injury on opening night in 2015, Randle submitted a strong sophomore campaign. He averaged 11.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in 28.2 minutes, although he could stand to improve his shooting efficiency.

Randle projects to be the Lakers' starting power forward for the upcoming campaign. Training camp and preseason start in late September, which should give Randle ample time to recover.
