Ayesha Curry regrets tweet questioning NBA's integrity

It was merely a sharp pang of emotion amid a monumentally disappointing collapse for Golden State Warriors fans, but Ayesha Curry is still hearing about it to this day.

Ayesha, the wife of two-time MVP Stephen Curry, was irate when her husband fouled out for the first time in his career during Game 6 of the NBA Finals. That prompted her to tweet that the league was rigged for money or ratings.

She's apologized for the tweet shortly thereafter and reiterated to People Magazine that it was a mistake that she regrets.

“I was just a fan in that moment so I didn’t think about the ramifications,” Ayesha said. “I regret the way that I voiced how hurt I was. I felt hurt for (Steph), and I didn’t mean to offend anybody. Obviously, what I wrote is not what I think about what he does for a living.”

The apology has done little to curb the vitriol directed her way. Shirts were sold in her image. Reporters brushed her aside. Ayesha has had to speak out against "insulting" Photoshops and she even personally sought out ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith.

Stephen, who's no stranger to internet backlash, advised Ayesha to ignore the noise.

"I know her intentions. I know where she was coming from," Curry told People. "You’re not going to win any battles on Twitter, so I tell her, ‘Keep being you. Keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t worry about what people are going to say. No matter who you are, they are going to try to find something to try to get under your skin and make you be somebody you’re not.'"
