Rockets' Nene Hilario: Agrees to terms with Rockets

Hilario agreed Wednesday with the Rockets on a one-year, $2.9 million contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

The Rockets will use their mid-level exception on Hilario, who figures to serve as the top backup at center behind projected starter Clint Capela. Hilario will be entering his age-34 season, and carries plenty of health risk at this stage of his career, especially after injuries limited him to 57 appearances in 2015-16 with the Wizards. During those contests, he averaged just 9.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 54.4 percent from the floor. He remains an effective player in short stints, but probably isn't somebody the Rockets can rely on to play more than 25 minutes a night.
