Report: Mavericks emerge as landing spot for Bogut

Russ Isabella / USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks are ready to scoop up every piece they can from the ensuing Kevin Durant fallout.

Dallas has emerged as a landing spot for Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut, reports ESPN's Marc Stein.

Bogut's contract will need to be moved in order to accommodate the addition of Durant.

The Mavericks also plan to sign Warriors restricted free agent Harrison Barnes to an offer sheet. Barnes is also expected to leave Golden State now that Durant has taken his place.

As it happens, the Mavericks' roster is a work in progress with holes at center and small forward. Taking on the Warriors' castoffs could fill the void.

The 31-year-old Bogut averaged 5.4 points, seven rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.6 blocks in 20.7 minutes per game last season. He's an excellent rim protector and a strong passer when healthy, but he's been kept to a limited role in an effort to preserve his health in recent seasons.
