The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed on a three-year, $22-million deal with unrestricted free-agent center Cole Aldrich, league sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

Aldrich, 27, declined his $1.2-million player option with the Los Angeles Clippers after averaging 5.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 60 appearances last season.

Along with Los Angeles, the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns were also reportedly interested in signing the 6-foot-11 Kansas alumnus.

Aldrich was born in Bloomington, Minn., and was named State Player of the Year while attending Bloomington Jefferson High School.

The Timberwolves already have Karl-Anthony Towns, Gorgui Dieng, and Nikola Pekovic manning the five-spot, although Pekovic only suited up for 12 games last season due to injury. Aldrich is a traditional center, having played just 20 percent of his minutes over his six-year career at power forward, so it remains to be seen where he'll fit into new head coach Tom Thibodeau's rotation barring any more roster moves.
