Lakers' Luol Deng: Lands four-year deal with Lakers

Deng agreed to a four-year, $72 million deal with the Lakers on Saturday, The Vertical's Shams Charania reports.

Analysis:

The Lakers had become something of a running joke through the first couple days of free agency, as few players seemed interested in taking their money. Deng, however, was willing to take the best offer on the table, joining a very young core of players. He averaged 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.4 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.2 three-pointers in 32.4 minutes per game last year with the Heat, and it would not be surprising if he approached those numbers in his first year with the Lakers. Luke Walton's offense will undoubtedly be faster paced than what the Heat ran last year, so perhaps Deng's performance could even tick up. He will be worked in along with Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle in the two forward spots, and could start over one of the youngsters, at least initially.
