Report: Bosh making progress in recovery from blood clots

Great news out of South Beach: Chris Bosh is on the mend.

Having seen his last two seasons cut short due to blood clot issues, Bosh is making progress in his recovery, and the team's goal is to have him available for the start of training camp, ESPN's Michael Wallace reports.

For a time, there were mixed signals sent out by Bosh and the Heat organization over his absence that spanned the final 29 games of the regular season followed by Miami's entire postseason stretch.

Bosh wanted to return, but the Heat doctors couldn't clear him. There was even some fear from Miami's medical staff that they would never be able to authorize it.

The 30-year-old power forward, meanwhile, tried to sell the team on a blood-thinner treatment that would allow him to return for the playoffs, but that idea was evidently rejected.

Bosh spent the offseason in part by touring Monaco with Dwyane Wade.

In addition to his well-being, Bosh's return would provide a significant boost for a Heat franchise in flux. A healthy Bosh could improve Miami's pitch to prospective free agents, and it would alleviate concerns at center in the event that Hassan Whiteside leaves in free agency.

Wallace relays that the Heat are hoping to sell free agents on the idea of Bosh's return, along with the structure of playing under head coach Erik Spoelstra.
