Report: Lakers chasing Chandler Parsons

Another Western Conference team is looking to pry Chandler Parsons away from the Dallas Mavericks.

Not long after reports emerged that the Memphis Grizzlies are interested in signing the 27-year-old unrestricted free agent, ESPN's Tim MacMahon noted the Los Angeles Lakers are in the mix, too.

Parsons turned down his $16-million player option so he can hit the open market. He's commanding a max deal, which would net him about $22 million in 2016-17.

The Mavericks may not be willing to pay the former Florida Gator that much, considering his recent injury woes - each of his last two campaigns ended prematurely when he was forced to undergo right knee surgery.

The Lakers, who could have about $60 million to spend in free agency, may be willing to take a flyer on the 6-foot-10 forward, who ranked eighth in the NBA in effective field-goal percentage this past season.

Parsons recorded 13.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 29.5 minutes per game, while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc in 61 outings with Dallas in 2015-16.
