Denver Nuggets center Jusuf Nurkic is looking leaner these days.

The 7-footer has shed 35 pounds so far this offseason, going from 280 pounds to 245, with the help of Denver's head strength coach, Steve Hess.

"It's Hess and my work ethic," Nurkic told the Denver Post's Christopher Dempsey when asked how he did it. "I want to be healthy, and so I want to do whatever I can do be that. And I am; 35 pounds less, being (in) shape."

The big man missed the first 33 games of this past season while recovering from a knee injury. He returned, only to be sidelined by other injuries and illnesses, and finished his sophomore campaign having suited up in 32 contests in which he averaged 8.2 points, 3.4 boards, and 1.4 blocks in 17 minutes.

The Bosnian Beast has since been working on his conditioning and feels much better.

"I feel strong, I feel healthy. I feel great. I'm excited about everything coming up," he added.
