Report: Pierce still undecided on future

Paul Pierce still doesn't know if he's ready to retire from professional basketball.

It was reported earlier this month that the Los Angeles Clippers veteran swingman would determine whether or not he'll play next season in the coming weeks.

He apparently needs some more time, with Ben Bolch of the L.A. Times reporting Wednesday that Pierce expects to reach a decision in "a couple of weeks," citing a source close to the player.

The 38-year-old has said his choice will center on whether he can mentally prepare for the grind of what would be his 19th NBA campaign.

"People don't understand, I think a lot of guys retire because of what it takes to (get on the court) each season," Pierce told the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn on June 8.

The 10-time All-Star posted 6.1 points, 2.7 boards, and one assist in 18.1 minutes per contest last season - all career lows.

He has two years left on the three-year, $10-million deal he inked with the Clippers, who bowed out in the first round of the playoffs this past season.
