The Washington Wizards are looking at plans B, C, D, and so on with the pipe dream of four-time scoring champion Kevin Durant making his way home basically extinguished.

On top of the team's reported interest in sharpshooting big man Ryan Anderson, the Wizards also plan to target All-Star center Al Horford and forward Nicolas Batum in free agency this summer, league sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

"Every year is different," team president Ernie Grunfeld said after last week's NBA draft, according to The Washington Post's Tim Bontemps. "We know what we'd like to do, but it doesn't always work that way. This year is obviously going to be a lot different because all the additional cap space that a lot of teams have, so we're going to make our calls.

"We're going to talk to people, and what the timing is going to be remains to be seen."

Horford will be one of the summer's big gets outside of Durant, with a long list of teams (Warriors, Lakers, Pistons, Magic, Celtics, and Rockets) already rumored to be preparing pitches for the 30-year-old veteran. The Atlanta Hawks are expected to offer him a five-year max contract, though, which may ultimately be too enticing to pass up.

The same goes for Batum, who averaged career highs in points (14.9) and assists (5.8) to go along with 6.1 rebounds per game in his first season with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Wizards have five players under contract for next season: John Wall, Marcin Gortat, Markieff Morris, Otto Porter, and Kelly Oubre. They'll also need to turn their attention to Bradley Beal at some point, who's a restricted free agent and wants a new max deal.
