Report: Knicks eyeing Bazemore

Troy Taormina / USA Today Sports

The New York Knicks are interested in shooting guard Kent Bazemore, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Bazemore reportedly intends to stay in Atlanta and won't meet with other teams until the Hawks make a decision on whether they'll give him the $16-million annual deal he seeks.

The Hawks have enough cap space to re-sign him, but they'll allegedly try to use the room to make a play for unrestricted free agent Kevin Durant.

New York, meanwhile, has about $29 million of cap space to spend on both a starting center and shooting guard. Bazemore is high on New York's list because of his defense and the Knicks see him as a good fit with recently acquired point guard Derrick Rose.

Bazemore, who turns 27 on July 1, isn't ruling out a move to New York, according to a source of Berman, because he understands he fills their need at the wing.

He earned $4 million last season and averaged 11.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting 44.1 percent for the 48-win Hawks.
