Report: Spurs extend qualifying offer to Boban Marjanovic

Mark D. Smith / USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs have extended a $1.5-million qualifying offer to Boban Marjanovic, officially making the Serbian behemoth a restricted free agent, ESPN's Zach Lowe reports.

Should Marjanovic accept the offer, he'll become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Decline, and he'll be free to sign an offer sheet with another team (which the Spurs will have the right to match), or else negotiate an extension with San Antonio.

During his rookie season with the Spurs, the 7-foot-3 center contributed tremendous production in limited playing time. He averaged 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 9.4 minutes (which translates to 21 and 13.7 per 36), while shooting 60.3 percent from the field and posting a 27.8 PER that ranked third in the NBA.
