Magic don't extend qualifying offer to Nicholson

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

The Orlando Magic are starting to clear cap space as the front office gears up for what's expected to be an aggressive offseason.

After trading for power forward Serge Ibaka last week, the Magic did not extend a qualifying offer to Andrew Nicholson, making the 26-year-old an unrestricted free agent.

Nicholson started 28 games during his rookie season in 2012-13, but has fallen down the depth chart in his fourth year in the league. He appeared in 56 games for Orlando last season, averaging 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14.7 minutes.

The Magic also have a decision to make on several other free agents. Evan Fournier and Dewayne Dedmon are restricted free agents, while Brandon Jennings and Jason Smith are unrestricted.
