Report: Timberwolves decline option on Rudez

The Minnesota Timberwolves have declined the $1.2-million team option on forward Damjan Rudez for the 2016-17 season, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Rudez, acquired from the Indiana Pacers in a trade for Chase Budinger last summer, played just 33 games for the Wolves, averaging 2.3 points and 0.6 rebounds in 8.4 minutes.

The 6-foot-10 Croatian came in with a reputation as a sharpshooting stretch-four, having hit 40.6 percent of his threes with the Pacers in 2014-15. He hit just 34 percent for Minnesota, not nearly enough to make up for his lack of rebounding, playmaking, and defensive abilities.

At 30 years old, Rudez may find the NBA free-agent market fairly chilly, possibly paving the way for a return to Europe. He was one of the top 3-point shooters in the Spanish ACB League before the Pacers signed him in 2014.
