Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Expects to play in Olympic games this summer

Thompson will play for the Canadian national team during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Analysis:

Despite the widespread concern about the Zika virus in Brazil, as well as the fact that Thompson is just over a week removed from the NBA Finals, he's decided that he's ready and willing to play for the national team this summer. Often overshadowed by the likes of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love with the Cavs, Thompson was a very important part of that championship team for his work on the boards and his defense. He'll likely be a more integral part of the offense as one of the more accomplished players on the Canadian squad.
