Report: With Durant dream dead, Wizards' top target is Ryan Anderson

After a year of dreaming big and peddling hope, the Washington Wizards appear prepared to move on from the increasingly distant prospect of signing native son Kevin Durant as a free agent.

With Durant out of the picture - he's reportedly unwilling to even grant the Wizards a pitch meeting - the team is focusing on another sweet-shooting forward about to hit the market. The Wizards' top free-agent priority is now Ryan Anderson, according to CSN's J. Michael.

Anderson is coming off a season in which he averaged 17 points and six rebounds, with a .427/.366/.873 shooting line for the disappointing New Orleans Pelicans.

The 6-foot-10 stretch-four has continued to struggle both with his health (the 66 games he played this season were his most since 2012-13) and his defense, but the Wizards are intent on improving their shooting from the forward positions, especially with Jared Dudley set for free agency himself.

Because Anderson represents a Durant fallback for more teams than just the Wizards, he is not expected to make a decision on where he signs until Durant makes his, Michael reports.
