Nuggets' Darrell Arthur: Declines player option for 2016-17

Arthur officially declined his $2.94 million player option for 2016-17 and will become an unrestricted free agent, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders reports.

Analysis:

Arthur provided some quality work for the Nuggets in a reserve role last season, averaging 7.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 21.7 minutes per game over 70 appearances while shooting 38.5 percent from three-point range. While the Nuggets probably would have liked to have him back in 2016-17, the team's considerable depth at both forward spots likely means they won't be able to offer Arthur the sort of multi-year deal he's looking for.
