Mavericks select A.J. Hammons with No. 46 pick

The Dallas Mavericks selected Purdue center A.J. Hammons with the No. 46 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

At 7-feet, 280 pounds, Hammons comes equipped with the size and strength to be a legit NBA five, plus great rebounding and shot-blocking instincts, a nice touch around the basket, and four years of college experience.

For all those raw gifts, he's been plagued by inconsistency and bouts of lagging focus. He doesn't offer much as a jump shooter or post passer, and could struggle as a pick-and-roll defender.
