Bulls' Spencer Dinwiddie: Acquired by Chicago Bulls

Dinwiddie was traded Friday to the Bulls in exchange for forward Cameron Bairstow, NBA.com reports.

Analysis:

Dinwiddie had logged only 46 total appearances during his first two campaigns with the Pistons, as the young point guard battled injuries in both seasons and couldn't climb any higher than the third spot on the depth chart. He showed some prowess from long range during his college days at Colorado, but his shooting has been spotty since he reached the pro ranks. For his career, Dinwiddie has hit just 13-of-75 attempts from distance (17.3%). He'll have an opportunity to challenge for a rotation spot with the Bulls in training camp with Aaron Brooks and E'Twaun Moore set to hit free agency this summer, but it's quite likely the Bulls bring back one of those two players or pursue another option this offseason to assume the top backup role at point guard behind starter Derrick Rose. As a result, it seems unlikely that Dinwiddie will enter the 2016-17 season in a consequential role, even if he submits a strong training camp.
