The Sacramento Kings have selected Syracuse's Malachi Richardson with the No. 22 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Sacramento acquired the pick in a reported trade which will send Marco Belinelli to the Charlotte Hornets.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing was the star of the Orange's shocking run to the Final Four in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Richardson introduced himself to the national media and scouts with an eye-popping 21-point, second-half performance in the Elite Eight against Virginia. With a 7-foot wingspan to accompany his prototypical size, Richardson has all the physical tools to be a dominant NBA wing player. Add in his 35 percent shooting from beyond the arc in his only collegiate season, and it's easy to see why general managers are raving about the former McDonald's All-American.

While Richardson's numbers in the NCAA Tournament are certainly impressive, his freshman season overall was far from overwhelming. Heading into postseason play, the 20-year-old wasn't even on most mock draft boards. While his 35 percent shooting from deep is a strength, the fact his two-point field-goal percentage was just 39 percent is a huge weakness. That mark is the lowest among players projected to be drafted this year.

If Richardson can continue to build off his dominant NCAA Tournament performance, then the Kings could have a standout wing player for years to come.
