Raptors' DeMar DeRozan: Opts out of player option
DeRozan will decline his $10.2 million player option for the 2016-17 season and become an unrestricted free agent this summer, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis:
In a widely-anticipated move, DeRozan will forgo the final year of his current contract with the Raptors and pursue a potential max contract on the open market. The Raptors still appear to have some interest in re-signing DeRozan, but there's always the possibility that he could be lured elsewhere once other offers trickle in. DeRozan is coming off a campaign where he averaged a career-high 23.5 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals.
