Report: Former Nets coach Tony Brown joining Wizards as top assistant

Incoming Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks has reportedly found the top assistant for his new staff.

Tony Brown, who last coached the Brooklyn Nets, is finalizing a deal to take up the job with the Wizards, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

Brown spent the past two years on the Nets' staff, and took over as the interim head coach after Lionel Hollins was fired in January. He authored an 11-34 record to close out a lost season, before being supplanted by Kenny Atkinson.

The 55-year-old previously served as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, and Portland Trail Blazers.

He retired as a player in 1992 after an eight-year NBA career.
