Alec Burks undergoes knee, ankle surgeries

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

It's going to be a painful summer for Utah Jazz swingman Alec Burks.

The team announced that Burks underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to clean out debris from his left knee and ankle.

Burks suffered a fractured left fibula in December after a violent mid-air collision forced him to land awkwardly. He was able to return in April to help the Jazz's floundering playoff push, but he managed just 11 points over the season's final four games.

The Jazz would miss the playoffs by one game and finish ninth in the Western Conference.

The 24-year-old Burks finished the season with averages of 13.3 points and 3.5 rebounds on 41 percent shooting across 31 games.
