The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Providence's Kris Dunn with the fifth pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau reportedly had Dunn as the no. 1 player on his draft board, although Dunn could still be moved in a deal later on.

Dunn brings a lot to the table on defense with his 6-foot-4 frame and 6-foot-9 wingspan, with the potential to be an elite lockdown perimeter defender at the professional level. He averaged 2.2 steals over 95 college games, which helped him earn Big East Defensive Player of the Year in both 2015 and 2016.

The 22-year-old works well in transition and can get up and down the floor in the blink of an eye, although that can sometimes be to his detriment. Dunn is prone to turning the rock over at a high rate, which stems from questionable decision-making and wild play when getting to the rim.

He's more of a scoring guard than a true facilitator, but even so, Dunn possesses the court vision and basketball acumen to one day excel in that area of his game.
