Clippers' Wesley Johnson: Declines player option
Johnson has opted to decline his $1.2 million player option for the 2016-17 season, Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis:
Johnson becomes the latest Clippers player to decline his player option, as Austin Rivers did the same earlier Wednesday. However, despite opting to decline, Johnson is still interested in re-signing with the Clippers, but he's looking to be paid a bit higher with the salary cap expected to increase at the start of the new league year. Whether he ends up with the Clippers or not, Johnson probably won't be in line for a regular starting role in 2016-17. He appeared in 80 games during the recently completed campaign, compiling averages of 6.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 21 minutes per game.
