Before finding his footing in Game 5 of the Golden State Warriors' grueling series with the Oklahoma City Thunder, two-time MVP Stephen Curry didn't look like himself.

Injuries to his ankle, knee, and elbow were among the explanations for his struggles, but he also faced questions about the validity of his unanimous MVP decision, his willingness to win, and his overall toughness.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had a simple explanation for why that was happening.

"Because he looks like he's 12," Kerr deadpanned.

Putting aside that type of appearance, Curry looked every bit like the best player on the planet on Monday as he scored a game-high 36 points - including 15 in the final nine minutes - to complete an improbable 3-1 comeback and keep the Warriors' dream season alive.

Curry scored over 30 points in three straight elimination games to help the Warriors advance.

"One thing with Steph is he understands that with all these accolades, MVPs, commercials, with all that comes great responsibility," Kerr said. "To his team, to the fans - he gets that.

"He understands that if you play poorly, you're going to get blamed, if you're the star. And I think he's had a rough playoff go because of the injuries and as I said I think he finally felt right physically the last couple games.

"This is who he is - having a clutch performance in a Game 7, that's Steph Curry."
