Following Friday's season-ending loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Toronto Raptors are expected to begin talks on a contract extension with head coach Dwane Casey, league sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

Casey, who guided the club to the conference finals after winning a franchise-best 56 games during the regular season, has a team option valued at $4 million for the 2016-17 season. According to Stein, the Raptors' deep playoff run will likely to land Casey a deal similar to the three-year extension struck between Portland and head coach Terry Stotts earlier this month.

The Raptors have thrived under Casey since he took over a 23-win club in 2011-12, improving their win percentage in every season under his watch and winning an unprecedented two playoff series this spring. Casey reflected on the club's success after Friday's deflating 113-87 loss to Cleveland in Game 6.

"We're learning. We're not where they are right now," he told reporters, referring to a Cavs team that's on its way to the Finals for a second straight year. "We're gonna be."

Casey joined the Raptors in the summer of 2011 after serving as Rick Carlisle's assistant in Dallas for three seasons. The 59-year-old Casey is the winningest coach in Raptors' history, holding a 210-184 record during his five seasons.
