Mavericks' J.J. Barea: Recovery well from arthroscopic surgery

Barea (knee) will be able to resume basketball-related activities early in the summer, Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

After the Mavericks were eliminated from the playoffs following their first-round series loss to the Thunder, Barea underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure to address meniscus damage in his right knee. He's apparently recovered as expected up to this point, and he'll soon be able to test things out on the court. The 31-year-old is under contract with the Mavericks for three more seasons and could be in line for a larger role in 2016-17 if Deron Williams (sports hernia) isn't re-signed, though the possibility exists that the Mavericks could make a run at adding a more high-profile point guard in the offseason.
