Pacers expected to name McMillan coach Monday

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Pacers have called a news conference for Monday afternoon amid reports they will promote assistant coach Nate McMillan to head coach.

McMillan spent 12 seasons as an NBA head coach in Seattle and Portland before joining the Pacers' staff in 2013-14. He was 478-452 in the regular season and 14-20 in the playoffs.

McMillan worked with Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard when they were both in Portland.

The move comes less than two weeks after president of basketball operations Larry Bird announced coach Frank Vogel's contract would not be renewed. Bird said Pacers players needed to hear from a different voice.
