The official crowning of Karl-Anthony Towns as the 2015-16 NBA Rookie of the Year is expected to take place on Monday morning.

The Minnesota Timberwolves revealed on Sunday that a "major NBA announcement" and accompanying press conference had been scheduled for May 16 at the Target Center, which would be streamed over at NBA.com and Timberwolves.com.

Towns then tweeted out the following shortly after the PR release, hinting that a Rookie of the Year award was heading his way.

The 20-year-old center was selected first overall by the franchise out of the University of Kentucky in last year's draft.

Upon Towns' presumed win, the Timberwolves would become the first team since the Buffalo Braves (1972-74) to have back-to-back Rookies of the Year. Andrew Wiggins was named the league's top rookie in 2014-15 after being traded to Minnesota by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Playing a full 82-game slate, Towns led all first-year players in points (18.3), and rebounds (10.5), while also finishing second in blocks (1.6).
